 Background Information Beginning this fall and continuing until December, 2006, NOPEC Customers served by Green Mountain Energy Company are guaranteed lower electric generation than those offered by The Illuminating Co. and Ohio Edison. These savings, however, are only for the generation portion of your electric bill. Distribution, billing, repairs, etc., will continue to be handled by your electric utility, which will charge its usual rates for these services. Green Mountain Energysm electricity is less-polluting, reliable electricity that gives people an easy way to help clean the air we breathe. By purchasing Green Mountain Energysm electricity, the average household can avoid contributing more than 400 pounds of carbon dioxide into the air each year.The average household would have to stop driving their car nearly 450 miles to reduce carbon dioxide an equivalent amount.Green Mountain Energy Company offers a variety of cleaner electricity products to its customers in seven states.Customers in other states generally pay a premium for Green Mountain Energysm electricity, but NOPEC has secured it at a savings for its customers. All eligible residential NOPEC customers should have received a notice by mail informing them of the exact rate to be offered about the new supply program. Included with this mailing was an "opt-out” notice, giving each resident the opportunity to withdraw from the NOPEC buying group. Those who sought to remain with NOPEC should have done nothing; they will be automatically enrolled. Opt-out notices were last mailed in November .
