Electricity

If you live or operate a business in a community we serve you are automatically enrolled in the cost-saving NOPEC program and receive any discounted electric rates and other benefits.

From 2006 through 2008, NOPEC customers received a five percent saving on the electric generation portion of their electric bill. Our program for electricity savings has been temporarily discontinued until a new Ohio law has been passed.

NOPEC has worked hard this year to once again provide our customers with discounted electric rates.

Navigating laws relating to utility companies sometimes makes for tough sailing, but NOPEC successfully positioned itself this year to once again bring reduced electric rates to 600,000 customers in northeast Ohio.

NOPEC completed successful negotiations with First Energy this year that removed non-competitive barriers. This new agreement will allow NOPEC to more competitively offer low-cost electricity for northeast Ohio residents and businesses.

NOPEC could be offering reduced rates for electric customers as early as August 2009, when new electric generation rates are scheduled to be established in northeast Ohio.

New agreement expected to result in meaningful cost savings to NOPEC customers (NEXTERA) to potentially supply electricity to residents and businesses in NOPEC’s service area.

Florida Power & Light Energy (NEXTERA) is an eco-friendly company which has a national presence in the production of wind energy.

This partnership holds great and exciting potential for northeast Ohio – as it could result in efficient, reduced-rate electricity that would contribute to making our region more competitive economically. Click here to view the press release for more information about this exciting opportunity.
